Rambles

I’m going to walk away from any additional anxieties for the time being and focus on the neuroses I already have.  Lord knows I have enough troubling me without adding to the laundry list of fears that are causing me to lose sleep.  I keep reminding myself that I get to see Alberto tomorrow and that in itself is a small miracle.  As a matter of fact the visit only costs me $4 for parking and some gas.  On our last trip to Mexico, the airfare was $622.61 for me with an additional $77.39 for Ashley’s ticket since they only charged me the ‘taxes’ for a child under 2 years old.  What’s interesting is if you add everything up: $622.61 + $77.39 + $77.39 = $777.39 which I thought was a pretty auspicious number at the time.  Three and its multiples happen to be lucky for me and nine is some numerology result I vaguely remember from several years ago.

There was a point in my life where I spent a large portion of my waking hours taking online tests because I had no life or friends to speak of.  According to my mom, I did not cope with the move from the city out to the suburbs very well.  She told me that I was difficult and largely unwilling to try and make new friends which may have caused the majority of the problems I had with kids my age throughout my school years.  Well what can you expect from an 8 year old really?  Not only that, we moved two weeks before school was out so I spent the entire summer moping around because I couldn’t see my friends.  What could possibly go wrong moving 20 miles away from the only friends you’ve ever known, and being socially awkward?  I can’t blame anyone but myself for the years that followed and there are sometimes I wish I could go back and change everything but then where would I be now?  Sometimes it’s best not to think about it.

I just wrote another check for Brian to get the Discovery from the County Attorney on our case.  I’m hoping and praying there will be some good news in all of this ugliness.  Lance says there is a good chance that we can keep Alberto here after the criminal matter is resolved so I have that to hold onto.  I still need to give him a good boot in the arse about what can be done, if anything, to get ICE to release the hold without bond.  I would love to have Alberto come home with us as much as he would love to be here with us.  We’re not picky and electronic monitoring would be acceptable if they would just let him come home with us.  Although if we agreed to the monitoring, I would be hesitant to bring Alberto to his mother’s house just in case they were paying attention to his whereabouts.  I will not be held responsible if the rest of his family gets in trouble, but I’m going to try very hard to help them to avoid notice.

Today I posted my resume on another website, www.indeed.com.  My mom recommended it from the seminar she went to about social media and networking.  They had a lot of very interesting information which has introduced me to some very interesting websites I hadn’t ever heard about.  I am just waiting for an email to verify my account, which is taking longer than I thought it would.  I really need to start looking for a job, but as I mentioned before I find it difficult.  I know my current position is seasonal with the end only being a month or two away, but I would feel pretty bad if I left before the end of my time there since it would leave them in a bind.  On the other hand, being without a job is horrible and not something I want to do again.  I need to update all my job search engines and the sites I am already using.  There is work to be done and someone, somewhere out there is looking for me to do it for them.  Is anyone out there looking for a bilingual data entry specialist with a special interest in financial processing or something which is a step closer to accounting oriented?  Please line up, single file of course, and tell me more about why I would be a good fit for you…  I wish this was how the job search protocol worked!

Tomorrow I need to commit to sending the money to Noemi and Agustin.  I also need to get gas, not cheat on my diet, remember to carry cash, and pack a cute outfit for Ashley to wear when we see her Papí.  I hope that it’s not stained by the time I go to pick her up.  Who am I kidding really?  Every single last piece of clothing that travels within 100 yards of my mother-in-law’s house is manchada.  I should look at my purse in the morning and remove any contraband, like my manicure set even though my keys would be a more formidable weapon.  Ashley needs to have a care package put together with a few toys, a snack, a drink, and maybe some duct tape since she seems to be squirrely every single time we go visiting.  She’s the funniest little girl, but not everyone at the jail seems to think so.  That just goes to show you what they know.
